1996 Mercedes-Benz 280 Fuel System

New User Asked -
I have a 96 c280 that would not start. I replaced the gas in the tank with new, the fuel filter and fuel pump. It still would not start. I powered the fuel pump directly and the car started. I think the fuel pump is not getting power. I need to know what powers the fuel pump and where it is located. Is the pump fused and if so where is that fuse located?

Douglas -
You should have an under-hood and interior fuse box, fuses should be labeled. Look for fuel pump, PCM, or control module fuses (any could apply).

You may also have a bad fuel pump relay. Copy and paste the following link into your address bar to view an image of the relay-

Location can vary, look in the underhood fuse/ power distribution box, relay center, or near the interior fuse box. Your parts supplier can also give you the location.

I looked under the hood in the box on the drivers side and all those fuses looked like for light radio and such. Looked in trunk and found the same but no fuse for the pump or such. I have ordered a fuel pump relay. Any advise as to where the fuse for that pump may be?

Hello, The fuel pump relay module is powered directly off the battery.

I will email a power distribution wiring diagram to you. May I have your email address please?

Following wires away from the positive battery post should lead you to the fuel pump relay module. Odd that a fuse is not drawn in this circuit. Perhaps the wiring includes a fusible link...
