1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Heating / Cooling System Happens always Always
New User Asked -
When I turn on the A/C the center air vent does not open. I have put vacuum on the line to the center flap and it opens and holds. I checked the main vacuum lead to the connection when the car was running and it had vacuum. The climate control unit does turn on the A/C and the fan control works. What can I check?

The most likely cause is a broken vacuum line, maybe to the heater control valve. When the main control open the center flap, it also tries to open 1 or 2 other items to give you the coldest air possible. When there is a vacuum leak in any of these other items or lines, the servo for the center flap does not recieve strong enough vacuum to work.
Hard to start cold.when started rough idle.Crusing speed runs great, come to stop,stalls.recently{6mos}replaced fuel filter and pump.thanks

Hello,
Do you get any black smoke from the exhaust when it finally does start if you rev the engine OR any black smoke at anytime?
Does the oil smell like gasoline?
