2007 Mercury Bobcat Electrical / Lighting Systems   

Started my 1997 Mercury Sable this morning and noticed out of the blue I could not shift out of park,lost hazard lites,cig lighter,radio,clock,power windows,power mirrors,and dome lite. Checked all fuses,looked all over as much of wiring as possible;under dash and hood. Engine runs fine and rpm meter works. Canot get it out of park. Brake switch OK! Please help

This vehicle I am writing is a 1997 Mercury Sable wagon,not a 2007 mercury Bobcat. Took cowling off steering wheel, nothing out of the ordinary. Cannot find anything out of place.

This can be caused by the TRS/ Transmission Range Sensor-

Did you also check the maxi fuses (these are modern fusible links on you car) underhood?

BTW, use a test light or dc voltmeter to be sure you have power at the fuses going through them. You are missing a lot of things.

BTW- Did the the drop down menu for Year, Make, Model, offer a 2007 Mercury Bobcat OR did you enter a 1997 Sable and Mercury Bobcat showed up? I've seen it happen a few times and would like to alert the site Administrator about the problem.

I checked al fusible links and maxifuses...will try a tester in morning. What about TRS?

It is a known failure item on your car, and causes several of the symptoms you have (power windows, radio)-- but not all that is why I want power at the fuses confirmed.

With engine running,no power at fuses:switch illum,hazard lts,def sw illum,diagnos,battery saver,stop lts,cigar,mirrors/antenna,wipers,radio,radio mute,and instr illum.... I do have power on lo beam,hi beam,starter relay,shift int lock,bk lts / ac,abs,eec ign coil,air bag,gauges wrn lts,turn signal,radio memory,tail lts..... All confirmed.... All power is on in fuse panel under hood. thanks
