car can be jump started and driven 20 to 40 miles only to come back to a car that will not restart with out a jump battery is 3mo old alternator is charging 14.3 volts with headlights and heater on check for current draw shows .065 ma draw unless fuse #19 is removed don't think that is enough of a draw to kill the battery in afew days let alone a few hours also starter was replaced two monhts ago any ideas thanks jim

How long must the car be sitting for the battery to go dead?
If the battery is going dead while the car is sitting you will need to disconnect the battery cable and hook up your amp meter and monitor it for a longer period of time.
A 'new' battery does not mean a good one. You could take the battery and have it tested (free at most chain auto parts stores. Or when you know the battery is charged disconnect the battery cable and wait (at least as long as it normally takes to go dead). Then reconnect and see if it'll start. This will let you know if the battery itself is capable of holding a charge.
Beyond this you will need to monitor the charging voltage while driving (do so safely). The cigar lighter would be ideal.
Don't overlook a bad battery terminal, ground, or alternator connections that is causing intermittent charging or preventing charging voltage from reaching the battery.

the car sits for a few weeks at a time before it will not start will start with a jump but even after driving 20 to 40 miles the car will not resart after a few hours battery was slowed charged overnite a tested next morning and checked out fine charging rate was also checked and passed on an interstate battery and charging tester with blower motor and heater on after about 10 minutes idle speed dropped to about 12.3 volts but recovered to 13.8 to 14.2 as soon as idle was raised am going to chage alt. anyway and see what happens don't feel real confident about this solving the problem what are you thoughts on this . thanks jim

12.3 volts is clearly discharging. Any chance the belt was slipping?
1993 Mitsubishi Diamonte Ignition System Won't Start When starting Always
New User Asked -
I,m not getting any spark out of my elecrtonic distributor, it has no coil. I checked the distributors primary and secondary resistance, it is within Spec. my
battery is new, and the fuel system is working, I checked all fuses, when I trun the key the engin spins, but does not ignite, I have checked all wireing, there seems to be no damaged wiring or un pluged connectors.
I just re-built the engin & transmission on this car, while the engin was taken apart my cranckshaft possision sensor got soaked in water, could this be a probable cause ? I need help! my next step was to check the wiring to the distributor for voltage, and take my ECS computer to get checked or traded it in ????

The crankshaft sensor is needed for spark, if you have no spark test this sensor.

Hello, What size engine, please? Does the check engine light come on when the condition is present? Have you watched the engine run with the hood up after dark to see if there are sparks visible at the spark plug wire connections to the coils and spark plugs? If you see sparks when the engine is acting up you need to investigate that area for the cause.
Please advise,
Roger

it is a 3.0 litter we've already replaced the whole distributor and when it does this there is 2 cylinders that is not firing at all.

Have you determined which two cylinders drop out? Do you believe it is the same two cylinders that have the fault each event? Are any trouble codes present? (Check Engine Light)
I'm also wondering if the fuel injectors on the effected cylinders continue to work or if just the spark is going away...
