1994 Oldsmobile Convertible All Part Groups

New User Asked -
I have a 1994 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible that I have replaced many parts on including the convertible top and one arm motor about 6 months ago. The other day i got in the car and the top would not function. It did not make a sound. That made me think that a fuse might be the problem. In the manual (which does not make any reference to a convertible) it outlines 4 fuse boxes. Glove box, underhood driver and passenger and an elusive under instrument panel and control panel(which mentions fuses for a sunroof). I have looked under the dash and unscrewed the panels, no luck. I looked in behind the the ashtray area as well, no luck. My questions are what do you think the problem is, could it be the fuse, if so where is the fuse and fuse box for the operation of the top?

Start by checking the switch and relay. You can also check for power at these locations. Do so with the Key On, IF the key must be on for the sunroof to operate.

To view a diagram of the motor/relay Copy and Paste the following link into your Address Bar-

Here is a link to fuse locations, on the right side of the page there is also wiring diagrams for your car-

I don't have a sunroof- it is a convertible. My owners manual does not note any information on convertibles. I was assuming the fuse for the sunroof might be interchangeable with the switch for the convertible top.

Sorry for the mistake.

Start by checking the switch to see if it functioning. Also check the connector to the motor. Inspect for corrosion/etc and to see if power is getting to the motor when you activate the switch.

How do I check the connection to the motor?
How do I know if it is getting power?

Douglas -
Use a 12 volt test light or DC voltmeter. One end to a known good ground and the other to the connector-- with switch activated (Key ON if necessary) the test light should light up or the meter should read battery voltage (abouit 12 volts DC). Check to see if the connector is partially unplugged, check for corrosion and pin damage in the connector.
