1999 SAAB 95 Ignition System Won't Start When starting No pattern

Hi My engine is not turning over when I go to start the car (auto). As it's an auto I rocked it and it worked, now it doesn't even do that. What could be wrong? Cheers

p.s. it had just come back from the saab garage.... should I be cynical?

Could you elaborate: "it's an auto I rocked it and it worked"?

Also, by not turning over do you mean the starter does not spin the engine or the engine cranks but does not run? (to me turning over means engine cranks, many customers consider turning over starting)

With the price of repairs today, I'd say it's better to be cynical than naive. What service did the saab garage perform? Something that frequently happens is inadvertent damage, like a mechanic bumping an electrical connector or knocking off a vacuum hose, etc. Then again, in worse case scenario, the service department colludes with management... to the point where you'll buy a new car.

When I say I rocked it - I meant I shifted the transmission into neutral and rocked the car forward and back, and then teh car started. Essentially when you turn the car key to in, it performs the self check and says ok. Then whne you turn the key to start, it's dead - doesn't even try to ignite or turn over. Does this help or do you need more information?

In this case check for loose wires on the starter, battery/cables, and transmission. Let me know if you are able to find the problem.

thnaks douglas! Appreciate. I'll check this out. FUnny enough it statred no problem last night. The key difference between yesterday and teh two previous days was the heat. Yesterday was cool, and teh previous days were very very hot!!!!!!!!!
